The Park Road route runs from Miramar Avenue to the intersection at Miramar North Road. Two options for this section of road were put forward for community feedback in September 2017.

Any impact on bus stops, pedestrian crossings and driveways would be detailed in the next stage of design and consultation, likely in 2019-2020.

ParkRoad 0Existing

Option A - One-way bike paths between kerb and parking (at footpath level), car-door buffer zone
ParkRoad A

Why Option A?

The kerbside bike paths would improve safety for people on bikes and encourage less-confident riders to use the route. Both options would have no impact on parking, footpaths or trees.

Impacts
  • No changes to parking
  • No changes to footpaths
  • No trees removed
  • Traffic lanes reduced from 4m to 3m wide
  • Likely uptake by people on bikes: High increase

Option B - One-way bike lanes between parking and traffic lane, car-door buffer zone

ParkRoad B

Why Option B?

The on-road lanes would increase driver awareness of people on bikes, but would be unlikely to encourage less-confident riders to use the route. Both options would have no impact on parking, footpaths or trees.

Impacts
  • No changes to parking
  • No changes to footpaths
  • No trees removed
  • Traffic lanes reduced from 4m to 3m wide
  • Likely uptake by people on bikes: Moderate increase
