Options for this section of road were put forward for community feedback in September 2017.
From the feedback received in September 2017, this option had more community support than Options A or B. The proposed change would be appropriate for Kauri Street which has less traffic and low vehicle speeds. This route would need to connect to the northern section of Hobart Street.

This option uses the route up Hobart Street, between Kedah Street and Wexford Road. The one-way bike lanes (kerbside or traffic-side) would improve safety for people on bikes, and could encourage less-confident riders to use the route. Parking would have to be removed from one side of the street for this option, unlike Options B and C.

Trees may have to be removed and the footpath narrowed for this option, unlike Options A and C.
This option uses a route with less traffic and lower speeds, reducing crash risk and severity. The alternative route up Kauri Street and Wexford Road is different from Options A and B. This option would cost less than options on the Hobart Street route.
