The Childers Terrace route runs from the Rongotai Road intersection to Queens Drive. In September 2017 we asked the community for feedback on two options for this street.
Option B (two-way bike lane on the uphill side, footpath on one side only) seemed to have the most support but the design would not easily connect with other routes.

We will continue to look at possible ways to safely and consistently connect this section of Childers Terrace with Crawford Road and the Leonie Gill Pathway via Queens Drive. This may be developed in the future. There will be another opportunity to provide feedback before any decisions are made.
The sharrow markings will increase driver awareness of people on bikes. Traffic speeds would need to be reduced to improve safety. This option retains the footpaths on both sides of the road, unlike Option B.
Impacts
The kerbside bike lane improves safety for people on bikes, and encourages less confident riders to use the route. Unlike Option A, this option requires the removal of the footpath on on the west side of the road.
