Artist's impression of the future pedestrian crossing between Cambridge and Kent Terraces, to be built from April 2025
The first stage of construction will take place at the intersection of Courtenay Place, Cambridge and Kent Terraces, beginning in late April 2025. We anticipate this work will take approximately 8 months.
Throughout construction all Courtenay Place businesses will remain accessible, although this access may look different to how it normally does. We’re taking care to ensure that we strike a balance between working quickly and minimising disruption to businesses, public transport and Wellingtonians. We will have signage in place to help direct you around any fencing or barriers needed to separate the worksite so you can get to your favourite shop, cafe, bar or other business.
More information will be available ahead of April, but dates are subject to change dependent on weather, the extent of underground work required and other factors. You can email project team at Courtenay@wcc.govt.nz if you have any questions.
