There will be an uphill bike lane on Wadestown Road from Blackbridge Road to Weld Street. Between Weld Street and Pitt Street, sharrow road markings will be painted to identify the shared traffic lanes. There will be sharrows on the downhill side, from Pitt Street to Churchill Drive. All on-street parking on the uphill side will be removed on this section. Some parking will also be removed on part of Wilton Road.

This will complete the Wadestown connection between Crofton Downs, Wilton and the central city.

We will also be raising the two existing pedestrian crossings at the Wadestown shopping area as part of stage one of this project, to improve safety.

Small changes to 30km/h zone in the shopping area

To make the safer speed zone clearer for everyone, we’re proposing to extend it slightly in response to community feedback, to improve safety. The proposal is to extend it:

  • from Marquis Street to near 132 Wadestown Road
  • 40m south on Cecil Road near 1 Cecil Road.
Safer intersections on Wadestown Road

To improve safety, we’re proposing to install Stop signs on Wadestown Road at the intersections of:

  • Leslie Street
  • Cecil Road
  • Blackbridge Road.
Parking changes in Wadestown village

To support the local businesses and make it easier for people wanting to park for short periods, we’re proposing to:

  • install a new P60 mobility parking space in the bus turnaround area
  • change P60 parking at the Wadestown shops to P60 Monday-Sunday, 8am-9pm to support the takeaway businesses
  • change two P15 spaces to P15 Monday-Sunday, 8am-9pm
  • install one P15, Monday-Sunday, 8am-9pm parking space in the bus turnaround area
  • install three P120/authorised vehicles exempt parking spaces in the bus turnaround area.
