The Evans Bay route is a key connection between the city and the eastern suburbs. It runs along Evans Bay Parade from Carlton Gore Road on Oriental Parade to Cobham Drive in Kilbirnie.
The impacts on bus stops, pedestrian crossings and driveways will be detailed in the next stage of design and available for comment in November.
This option involves few intersections crossings and a low number of driveway crossings. More parking would be maintained than option B. The width of the bike lane would mean people cycling could overtake if there were no oncoming riders. This option has a lower cost than Option B, however the likely uptake by people on bikes is similar.
This option may be preferred by people who usually cycle on the road. It's easier for riders to move between the traffic lane and bike lane. This option has a higher cost than Option A, however the likely uptake by people on bikes is similar.
